risk 101 (the short version)

  1. small sizes survive. pretend account: 1,000 imaginary units. example: risk 1% per idea = 10 imaginary units. an example, not a recommendation.
  2. stop first, entry second. if you can’t say where you’re wrong, you don’t have a trade. you have a feeling.
  3. a moved stop is a new trade. it’s not “giving it room”. it’s negotiating with a chart.
  4. leverage multiplies the wrong part too. a stop is not a guarantee: in fast markets you can get filled far away from it. with leverage you can be liquidated before your stop, and on some products lose more than you put in. boring and alive beats exciting and liquidated.
  5. sleep is a position. the app can wait.

hypothetical examples. made-up numbers. not yours, not mine.
